Housing Strategy and Policy Officer
Havering’s Housing Services has a crucial role to play not only in the lives of our existing tenants and leaseholders, but also in helping people who are looking to the Council for a home. We currently have over 11000 homes, including family housing, temporary accommodation and sheltered complexes.
About the Job
It is an exciting time to join the new Housing Strategy and Policy Team, as you will play a significant role in the success of our ambitious service–wide transformation project. You will do this by developing and reviewing our key strategies and policies, including consulting with key stakeholders and briefing staff on the important changes. You will be the “eyes and ears” of the Service, keeping abreast of critical external changes to housing legislation and practice. Finally, you will help us to keep on track with our plans by helping to develop and monitor our progress with senior managers.
You will have experience in policy and strategy or significant transferable skills and experience relevant to the role. You will also have a good knowledge of how local government works and its overall objectives. Equally importantly, you will be a confident engaging communicator, able to draft, consult and provide briefings on strategies and policies in a clear and effective way. You will be able to maintain a thorough and up to date knowledge of policy and strategy issues, coupled with the ability to analyse data effectively using management systems and software applications, including Microsoft Office.
