Rossendale Borough Council’s Communities Directorate is looking to appoint a Housing Options Officer within the Housing service area.

You will join a team delivering information and advice to people who are homeless or threatened with homelessness. A key element of your role will be to prevent homelessness by supporting people to explore their housing options including accessing both social and private rented sector accommodation, embracing the increased prevention focus promoted by the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017. You will be familiar with homelessness legislation and guidance, and be able to make fully evidenced and legally appropriate decisions on applications. You will be able to build
good relationships with our statutory and voluntary sector partners including those providing temporary accommodation.

You will provide a general Housing Options service but also undertake work with people experiencing domestic abuse and work within a multi-agency framework to ensure consistent risk management and an approach focused on safety.

Ideally you will have a minimum of one year of experience working in housing or homelessness advice, and also have experience of supporting people experiencing domestic abuse.
