We have an exciting role available for an Affordable Housing Development Manager to join Galliford Try. They will be responsible for delivering an affordable housing service to a number of regional house building business units.
Key roles will include advising on achievable affordable revenues, negotiating contracts with registered provider clients and liaising with local authorities regarding housing requirements and Section 106 Agreement terms. You will ensure that a percentage of our new build homes are sold to Housing Associations, and make and maintain key contacts in these organisations for future business.
This is a great role for someone looking to make a move into Housebuilding from a Housing Association or for someone in a complimentary role looking to take on a new challenge. Crucially, successful candidates must have a good understanding of the sale & purchase process for land & property.
To negotiate contracts for the sale of affordable housing to registered providers and other affordable housing providers.
To obtain and analyse affordable housing offers.
Provide a comprehensive affordable housing service to a number of regional business units.
Research and evaluate local authority housing requirements.
Negotiate affordable housing terms in Section 106 Agreements.
Build and maintain a network of registered provider client relationships.
Undertake scheme financial appraisals and viability assessments.
Advise business units on design requirements to meet client expectations.
Attend project meetings with business units, clients and local authorities to advise on affordable housing requirements.
Advise business units on the criteria and conditions associated with grant funding.
Prepare grant bids and input on IMS and obtain internal approvals prior to submission.
Ensure grant funded schemes comply with Homes England audit requirements.
Prepare regular progress reports and board paper updates.
Experience and Qualifications:
A strong understanding of the sale and purchase process for land & property on a freehold and leasehold basis.
A thorough understanding of the housing development process.
Preference for experience in delivering affordable housing contracts.
Project management and financial skills.
You must be delivery and customer focused.
A strong team player but also able to work independently to meet deadlines.
Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple key stakeholder relationships.
Degree level qualification required with a development related qualification (e.g. MRICS) being an advantage but not essential.
Location: The role is nationwide and will involve travel for internal and external meetings. Office base is flexible depending on candidate.
