Established in 1911, Howard Cottage is one of the world’s first housing associations. Today, we have an annual turnover of £10m and a portfolio of 1,600 homes, comprising general needs rental accommodation, sheltered housing and shared ownership properties. Our aim is to build high-quality, environmentally sustainable new houses when and where they are needed most, with an average of 70 new properties per year.

Our commitment to quality is also reflected in our organisation: we are currently undergoing an extensive programme of change which has seen us refocus and restructure our operations as we strive for greater success. Our new Director of Business Improvement will direct, enable and facilitate our transformation, optimising the design, implementation and governance of corporate systems, business information, data, processes and strategic procurement. With responsibility for performance, value-for-money and risk management, you will ensure that our processes and projects are aligned to corporate objectives and compliant with regulatory and statutory requirements.

A visionary, authoritative and ethical leader, your strategic and operational expertise will be complemented by well-honed financial, statistical and analytical skills. You will also boast an impressive track record in change management leadership on a significant scale in a commercial or not for profit sector, plus experience of commissioning and coordinating enabling technologies, data, business information and communication systems. The role brings significant people management responsibilities, so you must be able to demonstrate success in coaching and supporting a team, and experience of applying the levers of behaviour and culture change. We expect you to hold a relevant degree-level qualification or equivalent.
