Just 10 minutes from mainland England, the Isle of Wight is a unique and proud community. Not only is it a fabulous holiday destination as it’s been for centuries, but it offers a great lifestyle choice in which to grow up, live, work and visit. The Isle of Wight Council has ambitious and achievable plans for the Island’s future growth and sustainability – and you can be a part of them.

The Island boasts a welcoming sense of community; a quieter pace of life that comes from living in the countryside and by the sea, while being just 10 minutes away from the big cities of the south coast.  Chocolate-box thatched cottages; peaceful areas of outstanding natural beauty; 70+ miles of uninterrupted coastline; internationally recognised landmarks, heritage sites and events; dinosaurs and bustling urban centres - the Isle of Wight really does have something for everyone. It also has a determination and desire to move with the times and prosper on a global scale.

The Council is starting an innovative programme of house-building, following significant investment in a regeneration programme which began in 2017. A dynamic and experienced individual is needed to join the regeneration team and lead the development and delivery of a programme of strategically important housing projects. The successful candidate will have the chance to grow with the programme, and will bring their expertise and experience to bear to shape its future course.

The job will include delivering and managing a portfolio of work using robust project management; engaging and managing relationships with stakeholders - including the local community - and maintaining effective communication channels to support the projects.

This is a new job, which is full time, and for an initial contract of 24 months. After that the role will become permanent, subject to successful programme delivery and available funds. The successful individual will be based in Newport, with the opportunity to work across the Island. They must be prepared to get out and about.

The recently launched draft regeneration strategy sets out the scope of the housing programme in more detail. This can be found at www.iwightinvest.com. For an informal discussion please contact Assistant Director of regeneration Reniera O'Donnell on 07985565068.
