An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Housing and Investment department for a Welfare Reform Income Advisor to join our Tenancy and Income team. We are looking for a highly motivated, problem solving individual to join us, supporting residents affected by the government’s welfare reform programme.
You will work effectively with other teams to ensure delivery of a consistent and responsive service. You will be supporting families and individuals in particular preventing homelessness, sustaining tenancies, maximising benefit income and making recommendations around discretionary financial assistance.
You will play a positive and significant role in the delivery of a specialist service providing tenants with advice and support through the early stages of their Universal Credit claim journey with a strong focus on minimising the potential for rental income loss to the organisation. You will be responsible for overseeing UC cases and working with the DWP to ensure clarity regarding any changes to their procedures
You must hold an HND/HNC Housing Qualification or equivalent, and up to date knowledge and practical experience of housing management and best practice. You will have a solid background in Welfare Reform changes and in particular the Universal Credit legislation and benefit caps and the effect on tenants. You will have worked with challenging and vulnerable customers achieved positive outcomes and removed barriers. You will have clear understanding of the importance supporting our customers whilst protecting the business. You will be will be flexible, adaptable, self-motivated able to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team, have excellent interpersonal skills.
A full UK driving licence (with access to own vehicle) is desirable.
