An exciting opportunity has arisen for a caring, innovative and driven professional who is focused and passionate about addressing housing need and making a difference to the lives of Monmouthshire residents and communities.  This is a highly influential post based within the Strategy & Sustainable Living Team.  The successful candidate will be tasked with maximising affordable housing delivery and facilitating strategic housing development within the context of a buoyant housing market.  This is a challenging role which requires good partnership working and negotiating skills.  You will be working closely with internal stakeholders such as Elected Members, Planning, Estates and Social Care and key external organisations such as the Welsh Government, housing associations and private developers.

In addition to delivering affordable housing, other key priorities include understanding the local housing market to inform strategic housing development;  supporting the development of the Local Housing Strategy and Housing Partnership; developing other housing solutions that support housing and wider priorities such as homeless prevention and social care and developing housing strategies and policies to support operational priorities.

You will need to demonstrate two years of housing experience in a related field or have a housing related qualification.  The successful candidate will be one of two Strategy & Policy Officers and will initially overlap with the existing post holder, who will be retiring in April 2019.  This will provide hands-on training, guidance and support to ensure a seamless hand-over of responsibilities from the post-holder to the successful candidate.
