The Housing Infrastructure Fund: The Housing Infrastructure Fund (HIF) is a £5bn capital grant fund which is part of the £31bn National Productivity Investment Fund (NPIF).  The fund aims to unlock housing in areas of the greatest demand by providing grants to Local Authorities for the enabling infrastructure required for residential led developments.

Two types of funding are available: Marginal Viability Funding (MVF) – for smaller schemes experiencing a viability gap where HIF funding is effectively ‘the last piece of the puzzle’; and Forward Funding (FF) – ambitious and long-term strategic schemes, which require a high degree of cross-Whitehall engagement to bring them forward to the delivery stage.

The Roles:
Homes England is looking to recruit talented professionals to support Local Authorities in unlocking sites and driving new housing development forward.

We are looking for individuals with: excellent technical abilities; strong communication; analytical and project management skills; and enjoy working as part of ambitious teams. You will be able to think creatively and commercially to identify and implement new, innovative, delivery solutions.

For details of the roles, please see the individual role profiles (links below), however the nature of the work the team will carry out includes the following:
Assurance & Project Management – monitoring project performance, managing project system records on spend and outputs; verifying and approving drawdown requests; reviewing monitoring returns ensuring a consistent approach to project management; raising concerns over project delivery / spend; lead on annual project reviews.

Homes England is the new national housing agency, recently launched to play a major role in fixing the housing market and enabling delivery of homes that our country needs.

Homes England brings together land, money, expertise, and planning & compulsory purchase powers, with a clear remit to facilitate delivery of sufficient new homes, where they are most needed, to deliver a sustained improvement in affordability.  We work locally in individual communities to help meet local priorities.

We invest mostly in building new homes, but also in creating employment floor space and other community facilities, in cities, towns and villages across the country. The homes we fund include affordable homes for rent and sale, and homes for rent or sale at market prices. Our investment helps build around half of all new homes built in England each year. It also helps increase local growth by creating jobs and supporting businesses.

We own public land, which we sell to house builders and others. This is one of the ways in which we overcome barriers to development and help increase the speed with which house builders can build new homes.

Homes England is an executive non-departmental public body, sponsored by the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government.

Homes England was launched by the Secretary of State on 11 January 2018. Homes England is the trading name of Homes and Communities Agency. To find out more about what we do please visit: www.gov.uk/government/organisations/homes-england.
