We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and conscientious individual to lead on our affordable housing programme and to develop housing strategy and policy. We are a small but busy and proactive housing team so you will also need to work flexibly and be able to assist with dealing with housing enquiries from the public.

The successful candidate will be educated to degree standard or equivalent in a housing or related subject and have experience of working within a housing environment. You will need a sound knowledge and understanding of housing issues and be a member (or eligible for membership) of the Chartered Institute of Housing.

The role will involve contact with developers, other professionals, councillors, and the public so you will need experience of communicating with a range of people, and in particular, strong negotiation, liaison and influencing skills. You will need good numeracy and IT skills and be able to analyse and interpret statistical and financial information. You will also need excellent written and verbal skills for writing reports and presenting information.

Forward thinking, creative and innovative, you will be able to assess problems and deliver solutions. Able to work alone and on your own initiative, you need to be able to work under pressure and to deadlines, prioritising and leading on your own work and projects. You will also be willing to work co-operatively and responsively within the team, and be committed to delivering a high quality service.

East Northamptonshire is an attractive, diverse mix of market towns and rural villages, located within the very heart of England, but subject to considerable growth pressures centred on its 6 market towns.
