Job Details

Onward Homes is one of the largest registered provider of social housing, based solely in the North West of England.

In April 2017, we brought the Group together under the Onward brand to signal our intention to increase our impact and to make a greater contribution to the communities and customers we serve.  We are delivering a major transformation change programme, in the way in which we deliver services and how we are structured as a business.

As part of a continued focus on developing and shaping our customer services and supporting our neighbourhoods, we are looking for a Repairs Specialist (1 post) to join our Neighbourhood Team for the Merseyside region.

Reporting to the Neighbourhood Repairs Manager, you will work collaboratively with contractors and colleagues to ensure our repairs service is delivered to our customers, our properties are well maintained and to contribute to the delivery of neighbourhood plan objectives.

The post holder will respond to customer enquiries relating to their home, which require a face to face visit. You will deal directly with customers who experience problems with contractor performance, taking personal responsibility for ensuring satisfactory resolution. You are also required to provide advice and assistance to customers and help maintain their homes.

You will carry out property defect and repair inspections; providing the appropriate diagnosis, whilst issuing orders to contractors including prioritising, cost-coding and estimating. You will ensure all work is to a high standard, monitoring and controlling the supervision of work in progress as well as adopting a project management approach to the management of properties requiring major works. You will monitor spend against budgets, reporting any important disparities and take action to remain within budget. You will ensure colleagues, contractors and customers comply with health and safety, equal opportunity and other statutory guidelines.

To be successful, it is essential you have knowledge and awareness of related housing regulations / law. You will also have significant experience of developing partnership working with support agencies, local authorities and community groups. You will also hold a recognised HNC/D Building related qualification.
