The role
You will be responsible for developing the group tax strategy and to get approval from the board for the strategy. The post holder will be responsible for tax compliance including Corporation Tax, VAT, CIS and SDLT. The post holder will also be responsible for working closely with the business to minimize tax exposure as well and developing and implementing ways to reduce tax risk. The post holder will be expected to manage the tax affairs across the entire group.

What you will be doing
-Ensure tax compliance across the business
-Design and implement a tax strategy for the group
-Manage the tax relationship with HMRC
-Provide tax advice across the business particular to development on new schemes
-Identify areas of risk and work to minimize and mitigate those risks
-Identify and implement opportunities for tax savings
-Ensure appropriate controls are in place
-Identify areas where change and improvement is required and implement that change

Skills and experience you need
You will have a strong sense of stakeholder awareness and be able to build quality relationships and rapport supporting new ways of developing and maintaining the tax compliance for MTVH.

Technically you will hold expert knowledge of tax strategy planning and will be able to interpret financial and systems data. A natural multitasker with a can-do attitude you will possess the ability to translate strategic plans into operational direction for your team

Essential Criteria
-Qualified tax accountant (CTA)
-Excellent communication skills; proven record of preparing and delivering persuasive, high quality, written and verbal reports and presentations within the organisation up to Executive and committee level and externally.
-Proven track record of building and managing effective relationships with Leaders, peers, colleagues, partners and stakeholders.
-Proven experience of successfully leading, managing and coaching employees and supporting them through times of change.
-Experience of providing tax advice on a variety of matters
-Strong commercial awareness with knowledge of budget management, planning and proven experience of leading on risk management.
-A commitment to continuing professional development.
-Effective, networking, negotiation and influencing and stakeholder management skills
-An affinity to the social housing sector
