Director of Housing Development

Employer
London Borough Of Ealing
Location
London (Central), London (Greater)
Salary
£Competitive/negotiable
Closing date

With London’s biggest housing programme, you’ll prosper.

Ealing is one of the largest and most diverse boroughs in London with more than 340,000 people choosing to call it home. Living in a decent home helps people to thrive and prosper.   Which is why the council’s top priority is its ambitious plan to create a further 2,500 genuinely affordable homes in the borough by 2022.  To deliver the capital’s biggest programme needs a highly commercial director of development who can equal our ambition.  It’s an incredible opportunity to boost your profile, while changing lives for the better.

This is all about growing our current housing function to match our new objectives. In fact, you’ll rapidly and significantly expand Ealing’s housing supply. It involves developing nine estate regeneration schemes, delivering our housebuilding programme of at least 1,200 homes, and operating our housing company ‘Broadway Living’. You’ll also work in partnership with external housing associations and the private sector. As many of our projects are either up and running, or about to launch, you’ll need to hit the ground running - refreshing our capital investments, land, developments and more. Not only will this see you lead on our housing programme, you’ll also shape Ealing, your team and your career.

You will be joining the council during a period of transformation. Our Future Ealing programme is well underway and it aims to improve outcomes for residents while, at the same time, helping the council to meet its ambitious £57million savings target. Our plans are starting to show results and the work of the housing directorate is vital to our programme.

Together with housing colleagues and the council’s senior team, you will be working to make our Future Ealing ambitions a reality. You will also be leading your directorate through a time of important change and development.

To take on this rewarding challenge, it’s vital you have a proven track record within a housing area such as delivery, development or in a related technical expertise. You could have done this in either the private or public sector. However, you have the negotiation skills to work with politicians, communities, our partners, London TFL and the Mayor of London. That way, you’ll deliver the programme, and have the resilience to stay on board for the next three to five years. Importantly, you’ll also understand housing development, supply chains and our values. And, while not essential, a RICS or CIOB qualification would benefit your application.
