Manchester City Council is committed to making a significant impact on preventing homelessness, but there is still a great deal to do. Manchester is a large, vibrant city with great connections, however, we face a challenge with increasing homelessness across both families and single people as well as people who sleep on our streets.

Our Manchester vision includes a city where homelessness continues to reduce year on year and offers a wide choice of housing options, enabling people to live in their neighbourhoods of choice. A world class city which includes specific commitments to ensure that shelter and support is available for homeless people.

We have a well established partnership across statutory services, the Voluntary, Community and Faith sector and most importantly with people who have experienced homelessness.  We are also part of a wider Greater Manchester system and have a range of council and commissioned services in place.

We have a co produced strategy in place which focuses on prevention, improved supported accommodation and moving people on into settled accommodation.

In order to deliver the strategy, we need a dynamic, experienced and innovative leader who can draw the system together to drive the changes needed to find solutions to prevent people from becoming homeless in the first place and if they do become homeless to move people into settled accommodation as soon as possible.  Working together with Council colleagues and with the wider Partnership to address the underlying causes and create solutions to homelessness and rough sleeping within Our Manchester priorities.

If you share our vision and are passionate about Manchester, have experience of working and understanding of homelessness services and legislation/statutory responsibilities we would like to hear from you.

We are an Equal Opportunities Employer and we positively welcome applications from all candidates regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation.
