Empowering customers to live rewarding and happy lives – that’s when it hits home

We have two fabulous opportunities to join our awesome (and growing) team. We provide housing management services to our customers across Scotland.  Our teams deliver great customer satisfaction, ensure our customers can maintain their tenancies whilst taking a commercial approach to manage our rent arrears and letting our empty properties.  Our teams work across five Local Authority areas and these two roles will be working in Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Customers in a recent Customer Promise Assessment said “our house is great”, “we love it”, “price you pay is competitive and comparable”.

About our team

You’ll be working alongside our fabulous team who are super passionate about supporting our communities, delivering brilliant customer experiences and collaborating with our fab Development colleagues to deliver over 1000 new affordable homes over the next 5 years.  To us were not just a team we’re a ‘work family’. Our Head of Service is Karen who has been here for ever, is brilliant at what she does, as are our three Operations Managers, (Veronica, Annie and Janice) all have great sense of humour as well as amazing and varied levels of experience.  There are over 50 of us in the team in Scotland and we don’t just love to support our customers, we’re there for each other too!  The teams love an away day and last year we did some team building whilst throwing wellies, hammers and other highland game type activities! We also eat lots of cakes!

Working hours

To the team, supporting our customers is critical. You will work on an annualised hours basis covering the hours of 8 am to 8 pm Monday to Saturday. It’s the team’s unwritten rule that you attend the important appointments in life, be it your child’s school play, your partner’s graduation, or to get your new fridge delivered. You can elect to fit these around your shifts doing a bit of shift swapping working day. Our focus is on getting the job done, not your working hours!

About you

You'll have a proven passion for delivering excellent customer service and a genuine desire to help our customers.  You will demonstrate effective relationship, negotiation, conflict resolutions skills and the ability to self-manage and prioritise.  You'll also need an understanding of housing, neighbourhood management, housing law, universal credit, welfare benefits and how this relates to the work of a Registered Social Landlord.

You will be responsible for carrying out generic Housing Management activities including arrears, void management, estate management, customer involvement, income management, lettings and other related tasks.  You will continuously improve services to meet challenging targets and obtain best value for customers, working in partnership with stakeholders, external partners and colleagues.  You will also signpost our customers to our varied access channels within the contact centre, improving their access to our range of services.

Here at Home Group we have invested heavily in our future and use current and up to date equipment. You’ll be issued with the latest kit, which could include a Surface Pro and mobile. So it's really important to us that you are technologically savvy (or at the very least not a technophobe!)

It would be amazing if you have worked in this type of environment before, however it’s your “can do” positive attitude and enthusiasm that are critical to make this role a success. We can nurture your talent, just let us know in your cover letter why you have a passion for working here!

In order to keep us right and protect our business and customers, it’s critical that for the Mid-Market role you hold a Level 6 award in Residential Letting & Property Management (Scotland) or be able and willing to undertake this.

As this is a community based role, you need to be able to drive, as well as having access to a car insured for business purposes. Don’t worry, we’ll pay you expenses to cover this use!

You’ll have the chance to shape your own diary. However you’ll likely spend around a number of your days out and about speaking to and getting to know our customers in our communities and then working from home or one of our offices the rest of the time.

If you are successful, we need you to have a Standard Disclosure Check through the Disclosure and Barring Service which we’ll pay for.
