Principal Design Advisor

Welwyn Garden City, Hertford

£37,380 per annum (rising to £39,347 after 12 months service subject to satisfactory performance) – subject to April 2019 pay review

Salary and terms and conditions review due to be implemented June 2019

35 hours per week – Monday – Friday, 9.00am – 5.00pm

The role of Principal Design Advisor calls for a highly motivated and organised individual who thrives in a busy environment, providing advice concerning CDM regulations and promoting best practice principles across the Group. Strong attention to detail, a passion for CDM and excellent communication skills will be key to your success in this role.

The role of Principal Design Advisor will include:

  • Developing, implementing and monitoring recording processes for inspection, auditing and compliance to support the delivery of Construction Design and Management (CDM) procedures
  • Providing technical expertise and advising on the project lifecycle to ensure each stage is effectively managed, making prompt and appropriate interventions where necessary
  • Monitoring projects to ensure compliance with design and quality standards, and where appropriate, making recommendations for mid-project changes that are required
  • Effectively maintaining and developing relationships with internal and external customers by identifying shortfalls in service delivery and ensuring they are dealt with appropriately
  • Ensuring all building and refurbishment projects are compliant with current CDM regulations

Skills and experiences:

  • Construction Skills Certificate Scheme (CSCS) Yellow/White Card and a NEBOSH Construction Certificate is essential
  • Some experience within a CDM advisory role with knowledge of current regulations is essential
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to negotiate and build rapport effectively
  • Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft packages to include Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proven experience of prioritising workloads in order to meet deadlines
  • This role will involve the driving of a company vehicle and for insurance purposes in order to be considered to drive a company vehicle, drivers must have held a full UK driving licence for a minimum of 12 months
