About the role

The Customer Account Assistant (Income Assistant) will be based at one of Clarion's offices, but may be expected to work within other areas to assist in cover for absence and to work out of normal office hours as necessary. The post holder will work with, and provide administrative support to other members of the Income Team to actively manage low-level arrears on a portfolio of both general needs rented and intermediate current and former accounts. The post holder will also monitor account credits and process refunds requests as appropriate.

Working within agreed policies and procedures, and to locally agreed targets, the post holder's primary aims are to identify and collect arrears at an early stage and to monitor accounts where agreements have been made. Where arrears are escalating, the Customer Account Assistant will work closely with the Customer Account Specialist, the money advisor and external agencies to minimise financial loss to the organisation and maximise tenants' incomes.

About You

We are looking for someone with a strong background in customer service, and the ability to address people at all levels. Strong communication and problem solving skills are essential;-

  • Experience of providing a quality customer service in person and on the telephone.
  • Communicate effectively with a wide range of people and organisations;
  • Demonstrate a methodical approach to work and an ability to work on own initiative, within deadlines and guidelines;
  • Able to deal effectively with difficult customers;
  • Ability to make basic monetary mathematical calculations
