Delivering brilliant marketing and communications to support the delivery of our strategy. That’s when it hits home!

As a marketing and communications team, we aim to be a communications centre of excellence focused on building the Home Group Brand and delivering significant commercial value.  Our team is full of knowledgeable individuals who work hard and love what they do. We’re passionate about communications and with a variety of disciplines within the team, we’re constantly learning and sharing more about the ways in which we can communicate with our customers and stakeholders. We always have plenty of snacks on the go to keep us fuelled (and we do a mean Karaoke night!) And did we mention that we rank No.27 in the UK’s Best Large Places to Work due to our fantastic culture?!

As an experienced, energised and driven PR professional, you’ll deliver outstanding content and campaigns that raise the profile of Home Group in Scotland. You will lead the PR and media function in-country, while being plugged into our central marketing and communications team. Your talent and dynamic approach will help us make Home Group’s mark in Scotland.

You’ll focus solely on raising our profile and reputation in Scotland. You’ll create and deliver impactful campaigns and content across media channels to ensure Home Group is recognised by key stakeholders through the Scottish media. You’ll provide media advice to colleagues in Scotland, including the executive team, and lead on the day-to-day management of the press office function in country.

About our team

Whilst you’ll be our only marketing and communications colleague based in Scotland, you will be part of our fabulous team who are super passionate about their professions, and taking their skills to the next level. We’re not just a team we’re a ‘work family’. All 15 of us genuinely want to know what each of us are up to and how we can support each other.  You’ll also have our Scotland based colleagues for company!

You’ll work with Steve, our Media Manager who has 15 years’ public and private sector PR experience. Outside of Work Steve loves to cycle, but he hasn’t yet cycled into our Gosforth office since starting here in October?!?!

Together we’ll provide a pacey and creative media service that gets Home Group noticed in Scotland for all the right reasons. You’ll work proactively and collaboratively with our Scotland Director Sandra, as well as other key stakeholders and colleagues across the business

Working hours

The great news about this role’s working hours, is that we’re keen to work with you to agree the working hours and your working pattern. While we are keen to make sure you are available to attend at times that matter to us, it’s the team’s unwritten rule that you attend the important appointments in life, be it your child’s school play, your partner’s graduation, or to get your new fridge delivered. You can elect to fit these around your working day or use your flexi to take the time off. Our focus is on getting the job done, not your working hours!

About you

You’re a creative and dynamic writer, with a true passion for politics, health and society. As an engaging and confident communicator, you have an eye for a news hook and the ability to generate PR opportunities.  You’ll have a wealth of practical media and PR experience and have a keen interest in what’s going on in the world. Oh, and you’ll instinctively know what makes a journalist tick!

Technically, it would be great if you had the right certificates, however we appreciate that you might have some great transferrable skills and would therefore be keen to hear from all committed PR professionals with relevant professional experience.

Here at Home Group we have invested heavily in our future and use current and up to date equipment. You’ll be issued with the latest kit, which could include a Surface Pro and mobile. So it's really important to us that you are technologically savvy (or at the very least not a technophobe!)

Travel

You’ll be office based for the majority of your time, but as you’re helping us to raise our profile within Scotland, you’ll spend some time visiting our various locations around the country.
