Dacorum is a thriving business and residential community in Hertfordshire, to the north of London. We are committed to working in partnership to create a borough which enables the communities of Dacorum to thrive and prosper. It embraces the new town of Hemel Hempstead and the historic market towns of Berkhamsted and Tring, plus picturesque villages, rural locations and several areas of outstanding natural beauty.

We want Dacorum to be a place people are proud to call home. We are passionate about involving our residents in realising our vision to provide good quality, affordable homes, maintain tenancies and prevent homelessness: and we are honest about improvements we still need to achieve.

Reporting to our Corporate Director (Housing and Regeneration), the work you do will make a real difference to people’s lives and impact the whole community. You will have a key input in the Council’s housing strategy and your leadership will be pivotal in helping us deliver a first-class housing service to our residents.

You will lead on all housing related services, including Asset Management, Repairs and Homelessness prevention across all tenures, manage a stock of over 10,000 homes. Working with the Corporate Director you will have significant involvement in delivering our development and new build council housing programme. We have also recently incorporated the private housing sector functions within housing to provide a comprehensive service to the whole community.

The Assistant Director Housing will be a key role in the Corporate Management team working with Senior Members to develop and deliver the Councils corporate vision, values and priorities.

To thrive in this role, you will have worked in a senior management role with the housing sector and have experience of delivering an effective housing strategy and driving improvement. Through innovation, challenge and collaboration you will ensure we continue to modernise, providing residents with a customer focussed and efficient service.
