Post Ref: 2000BAI

This is an exciting time at Epping Forest for affordable housing development with a new Local Plan recently submitted for inspection planning the development of 11,400 new homes by 2033, of which up to 40% will be affordable housing.

To meet this challenge, this new post has been created giving a great opportunity for the right candidate to be a key member of the team taking the Council's ambitious affordable housing development programme forward.

You will be responsible for facilitating the provision of affordable housing in the District.  You will advise Planning Officers on affordable housing requirements; work in collaboration with housing associations to secure new housing developments; negotiate with private developers to secure affordable housing; and promote community-led housing including managing the Council’s Self-build and Custom Housebuilding Register. The role also involves research and policy development.

You will be an enthusiastic team player with experience of working in a social housing environment, and a good understanding of the process of enabling new affordable housing as well as current policies and issues affecting the sector.

Based at our modern Civic Offices in the market town of Epping, at the heart of Epping Forest, the post will initially be for a three-year fixed term contract, with a subsequent review to consider whether it should be made permanent.

The Council operates a very good Flexi-time Scheme and has flexible working arrangements available for the benefit of our staff and the Council.
