Experienced Chair wanted to join the Board of Midlands’ based Nehemiah United Churches Housing Association.

Nehemiah UCHA (NUCHA) is a progressive housing association formed by the merger of Nehemiah Housing Association and United Churches Housing Association. The Organisation has a portfolio of over 1000 properties serving the multicultural African Caribbean, Asian and European communities within the West Midlands with the current housing stock spread geographically across the region in Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton.

Nehemiah UCHA is committed to serving the community and aims to build it into a thriving social unit in which people of all ethnic backgrounds feel at home and valued. The provision of good, affordable housing is the platform from which the Association has committed itself to the community at large, conveying the idea of value and a sense of caring. A Board of non-executives delegates responsibility for day-to-day work which is undertaken by Executive Team and Operational staff who collectively uphold the vision, mission and values of the Association which includes tenets of the Christian Faith.

The Association is entering a challenging and exciting time, as it continues to engage with the regulator having and continuing to establish its place as a leader of BAME housing services. As such, we are seeking an experienced Chair to help us continue to develop our strategies for growth, regulation and stakeholder engagement whilst ensuring the long-term viability and sustainability of the Association and demonstrating a clear commitment to the NUCHA social values and mission. 

As Chair you will support both the Board and the Executive Team in meeting its strategic, commercial and financial objectives. You will be expected to allocate sufficient time to meet the expectations required of this role. The NUCHA Board meet at least six times a year, with an additional two annual away weekends. As Chair will also be required to serve on at least one committee, meeting at least five times per year. Your ambassadorial role will seek to effectively network with NUCHA’s stakeholders and seek new networks to promote the Associations work both locally and nationally. 

This is a high profile and prestigious appointment remunerated at £4000 per annum.  Senior level executive and leadership experience are essential requirements for this role and you will be expected to evidence and demonstrate this at all stages of the recruitment process, along with your willingness to demonstrate empathy to the Christian ethos of the Association.
