Sedgemoor District Council has an excellent record in the prevention of homelessness and we are in the process of recruiting specialist staff in preparation for the introduction of the Homelessness Reduction Act. The role of the Housing Advice Team is to provide our customers with a wide range of housing and housing related advice including enquiries regarding homelessness and advice to private landlords.

We are looking for enthusiastic and committed professionals to join our hard working, flexible and supportive team. The role of Housing Advisor is challenging, but also rewarding as we seek to help our customers remain in their homes or secure alternative accommodation. Whatever the circumstances, the team will continue to work together to provide a first class housing advice service and to build on our homelessness prevention work. In order to meet these challenges, you will need to be highly motivated, supportive of other team members and possess an ability to work under pressure.

The successful applicants will have experience of dealing with customers, preferably in a housing environment and the ability to work with vulnerable client groups. For the Housing Advisor post you will require an in-depth knowledge of homelessness legislation which will be tested in interview.

For an informal discussion about this post please contact Jerry Milton, Housing Advice Manager on 01278 435386 or Michelle Betts, Senior Case Officer Advisor on 01278 435296.

This post is subject to a criminal background check via the disclosure procedure.
