St Albans is a unique English Cathedral City with a colourful history seen in the Roman remains and variety of beautiful architecture, heritage sites and conservation areas. Set within green belt, off the M25, A1M and M1, the District includes a cathedral, historic city centre and charming villages. Our refurbished offices are in the city centre near to the station (London St Pancras 20 minutes), shops and restaurants. In short, it is a great place to live and work.

We are determined to put our customers at the heart of everything we do and become a truly customer-driven Council. Over the last year, we have embarked on a major programme of change to ensure we are fit for the future.  We must be able to adapt quickly and make the most of the latest digital technology to enable us to be more agile.

In this role, you will be leading on:

  • Transforming customer service delivery by maximising the use of the new digital tools.
  • Programme managing our Corporate Digital Transformation work stream which is a key strand of the Council’s ‘Shaping our Future’ programme.
  • Supporting cultural change and skills development to increase our capacity to deliver change.

Working in collaborative, multi-disciplinary teams, you will deliver innovative solutions and be able to translate the needs of our customers into user stories the business/ICT can use. You must be creative, with a ‘can–do’ approach and have experience of agile project delivery. Digitally savvy, you will be able to successfully challenge traditional ideas/ways of thinking, as well as having a clear view of the likely impact new and emergent technologies can have on service delivery.

We offer a competitive package which also includes up to 31 days annual leave, pension scheme, staff parking permit, reimbursement of professional fees, comprehensive management development and training, flexible working options (including homeworking), leisure and travel discounts and a number of other benefits that are available. This post is politically restricted and subject to a Basic Disclosure Check.
