This is an exciting time to join the Housing Department as it is undergoing a transformation project called ‘getting our house in order’.  We have ambitious plans to improve and transform services for our customers.

The Council is seeking to recruit a full-time Accommodation Procurement Officer for a fixed term of 12 months. You will be responsible for sourcing private rented accommodation to both prevent and relieve homelessness. You will be responsible for setting-up a new Localism Act 2011 discharge procedure to create customer ‘move on’; as well as leading on project work concerning stock review.  At least two years’ experience of working in the field of prevention/homelessness is required and you will need to manage a demanding caseload.  You will have to apply up to date case law when dealing with Temporary Accommodation accounts and must have a thorough working knowledge of housing law and welfare benefits.

You will also need to demonstrate the following:

  • Experience of working in the field of homelessness/prevention (minimum 5 years)
  • Experience of Allocations, including managing Temporary Accommodation
  • Experience of Localism Act 2011 discharges and PRS placements
  • Full knowledge of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017
  • The ability to work under pressure
  • A customer focus
  • Negotiation skills
  • The ability to advocate on behalf of our customers
  • An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be required.
