The role
As a Housing Officer you will really get to know our communities, drawing together all of the local services to meet the needs of our residents and stakeholders to provide homes where our customers are proud to live.

We are looking for a highly experienced Housing Services Officer who gets out onto their patch, has pride in how their estates look and gets to know their residents. You need to know how to manage unauthorised and disruptive street parties, how to help those with mental health needs sustain their tenancies as well as work with hoarders to manage their circumstances. You will also need to have experience of constructively working with local community leaders and stakeholders. You will be working on a large scale regeneration site, with an experienced team who put their customers first and are guided by doing the right thing. A sense of humour is key to working in this demanding and exciting role, ideal for someone at the peak of their game.

What you will be doing
-Working with colleagues, customers, residents and stakeholders to coordinate services across our communities.
-Represent Metropolitan at local meetings and events with customers and stakeholders, and act as the public face of Metropolitan in the local area
-Work with local communities to agree local standards, and ensure that these standards are delivered
-Manage complex tenancy related issues, including succession, mutual exchange and assignment of tenancies
-Take the lead on managing the local environment, working with customers, contracts and stakeholders to ensure that the environment meets service standards and customer expectations
-Use your local knowledge and customer insight to inform and influence development decisions
-Manage complaints effectively, using strong customer and communication skills to resolve complaints at the first stage
-Develop and maintain local relationships with key local stakeholders, and respond to enquiries from MP`s, Councillors and other stakeholders relating to local issues

Skills and experience you need
-Previous experience as a Housing Officer in a similar role
-Well developed communication skills
-Able to build and sustain working relationships with key stakeholders (residents, local authorities, other service providers) - partnership working
-A demonstrable track record of delivering service excellence to a customer base. A record of achievement in making a difference
-Good planning, organising and prioritisation skills
-Knowledge of project management
-Able to interpret financial and other systems data
-Strong report writing skills. A good standard of written business English
-An interest in the work of Metropolitan and social housing in particular
