This is an important post within the Council’s Housing Strategy and Delivery team based at South Lakeland House in Kendal.
The post-holder will be responsible for investigating complaints primarily in the private sector, relating to housing standards and ensuring statutory duties are complied with using the Council’s enforcement powers. Other duties will include implementing the Council’s Disabled Facilities Grants policy.
Knowledge and previous experience of the above is essential, this includes use of the Housing Health and Safety Rating System, PACE, evidence gathering and service of Legal Notices.
We are looking for a suitably qualified individual (BSc Environmental Health Degree or equivalent qualification) with experience and good knowledge of private sector housing issues relevant to the Local Authorities.
This post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and a full UK driving license is required. You may also be required to occasionally work out of standard office hours.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity for home-working up to two days per week, to be agreed with the Principal Housing Standards Officer.
