This an exciting opportunity to join our expanding Housing Advice and Preventions team. Based in our modern offices in the heart of Folkestone, with easy access to transport links, local shops, entertainment facilities and the seafront, we offer a flexible working environment, corporate membership and reward schemes, Employee Assistance Programme, and access to the Local Government Pension Scheme.  
 
You will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of an efficient and effective Allocations and Lettings service, monitoring households in temporary accommodation. Focusing on the private rented sector, you will maximise the use of all housing stock within the district and on increasing the successful take up of sustainable private sector options.  
 
The successful candidate will need to have an NVQ level 2 in Housing, Customer Care or related / equivalent qualification or relevant experience that demonstrates proficiency, along with experience of giving advice to housing applicants and working with vulnerable customers.  

The candidate will also need comprehensive working knowledge of Social Housing Allocations Policies, a thorough understanding of the Housing Act 1996 Part VI in relation to the allocation of accommodation and good working knowledge of all information technology systems relating to allocations work, including the Choice Based Lettings system, and actively contributing to the ongoing development of these systems. 
 
Above all else, you will need to be able to work effectively in a flexible team set-up whilst being able to operate on your own initiative, have excellent communication and customer service skills, and have the ability to build constructive working relationships with a range of partners and services.
