Housing & Support Officer
Ref: HSO area 1 London. This post will cover the London area, based between our offices in Staines and Mitcham and covering properties in Croydon, Merton, Sutton and Surbiton.
At Ability HA we focus on Ability, not disability. Do you share our values and have a positive attitude? If so, you could make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable adults who need tenancy sustainment support to be able to live independently.
Ability owns and manages 700 properties dispersed across London and the South East from Hastings to Bournemouth, Essex to Oxfordshire. The majority of our homes are managed as supported housing for customers with physical or learning disabilities or mental health problems. Most are self-contained flats or bungalows in small developments and many are built to wheel chair standards. They include a number of blocks / schemes with on-site Care and Support staff and also individual flats and houses dispersed across our stock.
This is an exciting time to join Ability. This year we have been changing the way we provide our housing and property management services and we are now looking for additional staff to join our existing friendly team.
The Housing & Support Officer is a new role, combining the provision of comprehensive housing and tenancy management services, as well as the additional support and supervision which our customers may need to help them maintain their housing and achieve their personal independent living goals. For this reason the patches are small, typically between 100 and 130 tenancies, and you will have the opportunity to work closely with your customers, their Care & Support staff (who provide personal care and support) and many other agencies. Building and maintaining relationships with others is key to success. These roles are perfect for people with housing management experience who are looking for the opportunity to provide more intensive, personalised housing support services.
No experience of working in supported housing? If you have general needs housing management experience and can demonstrate a desire and aptitude for helping our customer group to maintain independence, then please apply.
As well as genuine job satisfaction, we can offer a culture of support and leadership, training and development opportunities, company health care scheme, contributory pension scheme and 25 days annual leave. Hours of work are Monday to Friday 35 hours.
To apply for this vacancy, please click the Apply button on this page to be transferred directly to the online application process in Ability's website. You will be asked to respond in brief to five questions. Please also provide as a single document a CV and 1 x A4 page detailing how your experience meets the requirements of the role and include the job reference.
Closing date: Monday 17th December 2018
Interviews: w/c 7th January
