Ref: HSO area 2 Berkshire. This post will cover properties in Reading, Wokingham, Basingstoke, Bracknell and West Berks. We are flexible as to where you will be based.

Ability owns and manages 700 properties dispersed across London and the South East from Hastings to Bournemouth, Essex to Oxfordshire. The majority of our homes are managed as supported housing for customers with physical or learning disabilities or mental health problems. Most are self-contained flats or bungalows in small developments and many are built to wheel chair standards. They include a number of blocks / schemes with on-site Care and Support staff and also individual flats and houses dispersed across our stock.

This is an exciting time to join Ability. This year we have been changing the way we provide our housing and property management services and we are now looking for additional staff to join our existing friendly team.

The Housing & Support Officer is a new role, combining the provision of comprehensive housing and tenancy management services, as well as the additional support and supervision which our customers may need to help them maintain their housing and achieve their personal independent living goals. For this reason the patches are small, typically between 100 and 130 tenancies, and you will have the opportunity to work closely with your customers, their Care & Support staff (who provide personal care and support) and many other agencies.  Building and maintaining relationships with others is key to success. These roles are perfect for people with housing management experience who are looking for the opportunity to provide more intensive, personalised housing support services.

No experience of working in supported housing? If you have general needs housing management experience and can demonstrate a desire and aptitude for helping our customer group to maintain independence, then please apply.
