A major change in Housing legislation sees the Homelessness Reduction Act come into force from 1st April 2018. This has created the need to introduce a brand new team focused on preventing homelessness. You will need the ability to be creative and solution focused to ensure we are offering practical relevant advice and guidance to everyone with a housing need.
You will be working directly with people to prevent homelessness, offering advice and assistance to customers across all housing tenures. You will be agreeing personal housing plans with Customers so will need excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Whilst the role will primarily be city centre based in our Customer Service Centre, in the future the role may become mobile and will include home visits on occasion, so you must be prepared to travel and preferably have access to a vehicle.
You will be developing relationships with all partners including the Voluntary and Community Sector, in order to identify suitable services, support and housing for customers.
Experience of working with Private Sector Landlords and/or working in an ‘advocacy setting’ for vulnerable groups would be an advantage.
Knowledge of Housing legislation is useful but not essential as full training will be provided.
