Job Title: Community Engagement Coordinator

Full time, 35 hour week, flexi working. 

Reports to: Head of Affordable Housing 

Contract Period: 3 years (renewable)

At Be First we’re building homes and creating new communities at an unprecedented rate.  So, it’s vitally important that we listen to the local community effectively and that we act upon their concerns properly and in a timely manner.

We’re looking for an experienced and highly creative engagement coordinator to ensure that our consultation is more than a tick box exercise.  The postholder will have a dual role: overarching responsibility for the company’s engagement activity; and direct responsibility for delivering exciting engagement activities for our Heritage Lottery project in Barking.

You’ll be working with our planning, estate renewal and development teams, and you’ll need to demonstrate your commissioning skills, your ability to work collaboratively with senior colleagues, and your analytical and presentation skills.

And, you’ll need excellent organisational abilities and excellent volunteer management skills to support our heritage project in Barking Town Centre.

We have over £1m of Heritage Lottery Fund to deliver a heritage-led shopfront and building improvement project across the Abbey and Barking Town Centre Conservation Area which includes locally listed properties across East Street and Station Parade.  The project will also develop an extensive outreach and education programme for local school children, students and residents.

We expect to review the post after 2.5 years, with a view to making the position permanent.
