bpha is a dynamic and ambitious 18,000 unit Housing Association based in Bedford and operating throughout the Oxford to Cambridge growth corridor. The organisation employs 400 people, has an annual turnover in excess of £120m and a development programme that will see it build around 3,000 new homes over the next five years making it one of the top 25 of developing associations.

A vacancy has arisen within our Corporate Finance Team for the new role of Asset Charging Assistant.  This is an exciting opportunity to enter the world of security charging and the successful applicant would look to gain a CILEx level 3 Land Law and Conveyancing qualification.

The primary responsibility for this role is to assist in the upgrading of Mortgagee in Possession clauses and other issues in property documents.  You will also be involved in ensuring all details relating to charging and valuations are updated for the Asset & Liability details held on the computerised Housing Management system

You will carry out the strategy for charging properties to lenders as security for loans to meet the required asset cover requirements.  Assisting the Asset & Liability Controller, you will also analyse large volumes of data, keep the property register up to date and provide data analysis to ensure maximum value for bpha’s assets.

The successful candidate will be educated to a degree level (or equivalent) in law, finance or economics related discipline or hold formal treasury or corporate finance qualifications.  Previous experience of asset charging or in a relevant property related environment would be advantageous, as would legal experience or the ability to read and understand leases or similar property documents.

You must also possess strong methodical skills, with an ability to accurately analyse and interpret large volumes of data. A good level of IT skills, especially Excel is essential.

In return we offer a competitive salary, 28 days annual holiday (plus bank holidays) increasing with service, contributory pension, free life assurance, free private medical cover, reduced gym membership and canteen.

Closing date: Monday 28th January 2019

Interviews will be held on Friday 8 February & Monday 11 February 2019
