Assistant Director: Housing

Could you lead our efforts to tackle London’s housing crisis?

The Mayor’s Homes for Londoners team is working with their partners to deliver a step change in new and affordable home building. With around £8bn of new funding, ambitious targets to start at least 116,000 genuinely affordable homes by 2022, and a wide range of other initiatives, they are working to help all Londoners enjoy good quality, secure and affordable housing.

We are looking for a new Assistant Director of Housing who will take the lead in designing and delivering the policies, strategies and programmes to achieve these ambitions, and ensure that local boroughs, housing associations and other partners are fully engaged through their record level investment programmes.

Working closely with the Deputy Mayor for Housing and Residential Development and reporting to the Executive Director of Housing & Land, you will have oversight of their capital and revenue budgets and take responsibility for a range of pan-London housing and rough-sleeping programmes and specialist support functions.

You will be a key interface between the GLA and Government, reporting to both the Mayor and the London Assembly and will operate as an ambassador across the wider London and UK housing industry.

You will have exceptional team leadership and partnership building skills, together with proven strategic and delivery expertise, personal resilience and sophisticated political acumen.

If this is you, and you want to make a real difference for Londoners across a broad span of strategic and operational responsibilities in a dynamic, successful and high-profile team then they want to hear from you.
