Through collaborating with developers, housing associations and public sector bodies across the country, L&G Affordable Homes is forward-funding new build affordable housing, bringing volume institutional capital to the social housing sector with initial target markets being affordable rent, shared ownership and rent-to-buy.

The postholder will be responsible for leading the business in its management of landlord asset investment and H&S and all related activities to ensure our commitment to customers to deliver a trusted service is met.

The postholder will also work throughout our development pipeline to ensure that the assets which originate from the development pipeline are the required quality to deliver long term asset performance.

Finally the role will lead the business in developing and then deploying the capability to act as a successful long term asset manager.

The post holder will:

  • Act as the key accountable person for all LGAH landlord Health and Safety matters.
  • Hold responsibility for the creation and successful operational implementation of the business Asset Management Strategy.
  • Participate in scrutiny meetings to ensure the projects that the business is securing meet the asset performance requirements of the business.
  • Provide input into the Business employers requirements so that the schemes we design and deliver are in accordance with the recommendations of the Asset Management Strategy.
  • Advise on approaches to asset management and investment which drive the efficiency and profitability of the business without compromising asset performance or customer safety and customer experience
  • Lead on behalf of LGAH in developing excellent supplier relationships in order to deliver Landlord H&S services.
  • Develop and be accountable for the organisation’s Operational Health and Safety Strategy, Management Plan and Framework
  • Ensure the organisation is fully compliant with all legislation surrounding landlord Health and Safety.
  • Act as the key point of liaison with safety enforcement agencies and Fire authorities on matters of landlord compliance and best practice
  • Create the systems and information environment to give a high level of surety that health and safety compliance and asset management performance is known, understood and being effectively implemented.
  • Develop and implement an intelligent approach to investment planning that considers all options for the best use of assets.
  • Ensure policy and procedures are effective, up to date and being correctly implemented and use business assurance techniques to test these regularly.
  • Develop and oversee control systems to prevent or deal with business continuity and disaster recovery.

Qualifications:

  • Degree educated or equivalent
  • Strong academic background, with an asset management and landlord compliance background

Track record

  • Evidence of successfully delivering landlord compliance services to a high standard.
  • Evidence of successfully delivering an effective asset management service within a similar business
  • Demonstration of strong contract management expertise.
  • Background in influencing and shaping the design and development of new homes.
  • Interest and ideally experience in utilising technology within assets.

Experience

  • Knowledge of the affordable housing sector, in particular an expert understanding of landlord compliance and the statutory responsibilities of RP’s.
  • Acting efficiently and pro-actively within defined decision making processes
  • Experience of building and then delivering models of stock investment that deliver value for money.
