Construction Project Manager

Full Time (37.5 hpw)

Salary circa £40,000 per annum

Primary office base will be Leeds with flexible working arrangements

Seeing new communities take shape.  That’s when it hits home.

We have a brilliant opportunity for a Construction Project Manager (known internally at Home Group as a Delivery Manager) to join our award winning Development team.  Did you know we’re winners of the Housing Awards Development Programme of the Year 2018 and shortlisted for 2019!

You’ll be managing our delivery programme for the Yorkshire region, managing projects from planning submission through to practical completion.  We have an ambitious target to deliver 10,000 homes and you’ll play a key role in supporting us to achieve this.  You’ll also work closely and collaboratively with colleagues across Development, internal Finance and Legal teams, external partners and suppliers.

Amazing opportunities to work on a range of schemes from low density rural housing to high density multi-storey city centre development.  You’ll be working across a number of sites delivering a variety of tenures and innovative design solutions, within our framework of contractors and consultants.  With a construction or house building background, you’ll have experience of managing projects client-side and managing a team of external consultants to deliver projects on our behalf. An understanding of construction forms of contract would be a real advantage.

There’s plenty more information about the role and what we’re looking for in our job description.  You can also see one of our Development colleagues talk about their role in our short film.

You'll report to Simon, our Senior Delivery Manager who is passionate about delivering the highest quality of housing for our customers.  If this is your passion too, you'll really fit in here.

It’s a really exciting time to join Home Group.  We are currently undergoing a significant period of growth and change that will enable us to build more homes, independence and aspirations – the vision that underpins our five-year strategy. Our ambition to build 10,000 new homes, be market leaders in New Models of Care and significantly increase our digital capability is in the hands of our brilliant people.

A bit about you

You’ll have experience in the delivery of high quality new homes on-site, delivering multi-site, complex residential-led development projects successfully.  With an in-depth understanding of the commercial aspects relating to housing development, you’ll have a good knowledge of the planning system and have previous experience in financial modelling.  If you have a proven background in planning, regeneration and development activity, including the procurement of contracting partners then this would be the cherry on the cake (or should we say the sold sign on the door!).  You’ll ideally be qualified or working towards a relevant professional qualification too.

You’ll need to have a full current driving licence, access to a car along with business insurance cover so you can travel around our different sites. We'll pay you for your mileage.

A bit about us

We are Home Group, one of the UK’s largest developers of new homes and providers of houses for affordable rent.  We also provide long term integrated housing, health and social care housing.  We are proud of the difference that we have made over the last 80 years and we continue to work hard to support 120,000 customers in 55,000 homes across the UK.  With a turnover of £350m and more than 3000 colleagues, you will be joining a robust, dynamic and inclusive organisation with a strong social mission at its heart.

We’re also a strategic partner of Homes England, working together to disrupt the way we do things across UK housing to build the affordable homes our country needs.

Oh, did we mention that we rank No. 27 in the UK’s Best Large Places to work and are winners of Development Programme of the Year 2018 at the Housing Awards and Best House at the What House Awards 2018?

Working flexibly

It’s the team’s unwritten rule that you attend the important appointments in life, be it your child’s school play, your partner’s graduation, or to get your new fridge delivered. You can elect to fit these around your working day taking advantage of our agile ways of working. Our focus is on getting the job done, not your working hours!

What’s on offer?

There’s lots!  Including: competitive salaries, 25 days paid holiday a year rising by 1 day per year up to 30 days, with the ability to purchase an extra 5 days, a contributory occupational money-purchase pension scheme with life assurance, salary sacrifice schemes including cycle, car, technology and childcare vouchers, heavily discounted AA membership, gyms and savings on high street stores, holidays and restaurants amongst many others.

The job for you?

Great, all you need to do now is upload a covering letter and your CV.  If you would prefer to have a chat about the role first, then contact us on our Home Group Facebook Careers page.  You can also find out more about us (including our covering letter template if you need this and more details on how to apply) on our website at www.homegroup.org.uk/careers.
