Job Details

The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC) is seeking approachable, caring and customer focused individuals to work in the Neighbourhood Management Team on a full time basis. With a commitment to providing excellent customer service, the Home Check Officer will seek to tailor Housing Management services in a way that better suits our residents.

You will be responsible for completing home visits to RBKC tenants in order to capture up to date information. Information gathered at these visits will be used to provide tailored support to tenants and ultimately assisting with shaping housing management services.

These visits will allow us to identify residents who may be vulnerable and ensure they have appropriate support in place to address any direct welfare risks or risks to their ability to sustain their tenancy. Home Check Officers will be able to identify safeguarding concerns, support needs and ensure appropriate support is provided to our residents. The work offers a range of experience working with residents from diverse communities to help tailor our services.

About You:

The right candidate for the role will possess excellent communication skills and demonstrate a commitment to delivering quality and outcome driven services, contributing to a brighter future for RBKC and our residents. The Home Check Officer will provide a caring and professional customer experience from the first point of contact.

Role Requirements:

To be a successful member of the team and thrive in the role, it is essential that you can demonstrate the following experience and skills.

  • Ability to build strong working relationships with other departments and teams within the business.
  • To provide general advice and support to the residents
  • Ensuring that Health and Safety requirements in a resident’s home are compliant
  • Desire to work in the Neighbourhood Management team.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload.
  • Ability to demonstrate a professional, caring and solution-focused attitude.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

We welcome applicants from all backgrounds especially from our local communities.

About Us

Kensington and Chelsea is one of London’s most vibrant and recognisable boroughs. It has many unique buildings, famous museums and beautiful parks. Although the borough is geographically one of the smallest in London, at just over 4.7 square miles, it is one of the most densely populated and diverse areas in Europe. It is home to the world-famous Notting Hill Carnival. Kensington and Chelsea Council (also known as RBKC) aims to provide high quality services to improve the lives of its residents and to make the borough a better place in which to live, work, and visit.

Housing and Grenfell

This department is responsible for housing, communities and improving the lives of local residents.  This includes landlord services and estate management, planning, refurbishment, and advice and support to help maintain healthy and safe homes.

A significant part of our work is focused on creating stronger communities, by working together with local residents on recovery following the Grenfell tragedy.

In response to London’s affordable homes crisis, we are committed to building more social housing to help people on lower incomes to live, work, and raise their families in the borough. Housing also covers landlord services and estate management, planning, refurbishment, and advice and support to help maintain healthy and safe homes.

Our housing team also work closely with affordable housing providers and other agencies to manage homelessness and give support to older residents to live independently.  Find out more about our vacancies here.
