Do you want to work for a company where you can make a difference?

Business Development builds our organisation by creating valuable partnerships, enabling us to build great homes, provide great services, and ultimately filters into what we as the Longhurst Group stand for, “making a difference” and “improving lives”.

The role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a high performing and experienced individual to lead our new Land & Planning and New Business & Partnerships department, as Director of Business Development, during a period of organisational change and growth.

As a social housing provider, our successful Director of Business Development will lead the procurement of new property and land opportunities for the Group, ensuring that we successfully secure development opportunities to meet our corporate plan targets. Our new leader will be a values-driven, yet commercially minded leader who can combine these attributes to lead the management of new property developments, create partnerships and provide the homes that will help solve the housing crisis. In a new strategic operation for the Group, our new Director will be accountable for building, leading and managing the property business development service arm for the business, working with our leadership team to add to the outline and delivery of the housing aspect of our annual operations plans.

About You:

As our ideal candidate you will be a values driven, innovative and creative leader who will champion commercial awareness, change and collaborative working to ensure strategic objectives and performance targets in relation to property acquisition and development are met and risks are managed across the group. You will have worked within a similar role within social housing and/or commercial property development so will be able to demonstrate success at a senior management level with managing residential property, budgets, project planning and developing partnerships. You will have a good understanding of housing associations and the related funding, legislative and regulatory framework.

Educated to degree level or equivalent, you will ideally hold a relevant professional qualification or an equivalent leadership qualification. However, this is not essential for the right candidate, above all we are looking for an inspirational leader who will be able to successfully deliver significant development and regeneration opportunities.

About us:

Longhurst Group is one of the UK’s leading housing providers, providing more than 22,500 homes across the Midlands and the East of England, and is a leading independent provider of care and support services. Passionate about people and committed to its vision of ‘Improving Lives’, Longhurst Group does not stand still and has an exciting future ahead with ambitious growth plans for housing, care, support and community investment. Everything we do is about helping people, enhancing their wellbeing and improving lives.

In return for your hard work and commitment, you’ll enjoy excellent employee benefits including

  • A competitive salary
  • Company car provision
  • A contributory average salary pension scheme
  • Generous paid annual leave starting at 25 days plus bank holidays and 3 additional concessionary days.
  • A commitment to learning and development
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Free onsite parking at majority of sites
