This a great opportunity for an experienced Senior Development Manager to join the Peabody team, to ensure that we build a flexible, agile structure to support our targets, the post of Senior Development Manager will have a broad remit to match the expanded scope and seniority of the role.  Accordingly, we anticipate appointing personnel with differing levels of experience to this role across the team.

You will be responsible for identifying, securing and progressing new business opportunities within your geographical area of focus, and will have line management responsibility for an Assistant Development Manager.  

Skills/Experience required

  • Self-motivated individual with a keen commitment to ongoing personal and professional development

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent numerical and commercial skills including knowledge and management of detailed cashflows

  • Extensive experience of working in a development environment and delivering projects within agreed cost, quality and programme criteria.
  • Track record of identifying and securing land acquisition and development opportunities
  • Experience of securing and delivering Joint Venture projects

  • Detailed understanding of the acquisition and pre-development design process

  • Proven project and development management skills and demonstrable track record of progressing large and complex schemes from inception through to planning resolution, with a strong focus on design management

  • Demonstrable commercial acumen with a focus on value creation and management
  • Private sector experience preferred but not essential

  • Demonstrable leadership skills within multi-disciplinary, intra-company bid and project teams

  • Proven ability in, and significant experience of bidding for development opportunities in formal and informal processes

  • Advanced level of understanding and proficiency in financial appraisals, including commercial software e.g. Pamwin/Argus Developer

  • An established, wide network of contacts and connections within the agency, affordable housing, local government, construction, and residential development sectors

  • Line management experience and track record of leading a team desirable

  • An understanding of the Housing Association sector would be preferred but not essential

  • Professional qualification such as RICS, MCIOB, APM are desirable but not essential
