We believe that everyone deserves a place to call their own, which is why we’re committed to building 400 new homes each year. We do more than just provide a roof over our customers’ heads, we’re here to make a real difference.

In addition to creating positive spaces for our customers we continuously strive to create a positive and progressive workspace to enable our colleagues to achieve their full potential.

We are looking for an Assistant Accountant – Service Charges (Merseyside region)to join our Finance Team.

Reporting to the Senior Management Accountant, you will calculate and maximise Onward’s service charge income in respect of rented, shared ownership, and Right to Buy properties in accordance with policies, procedures and legislative requirements.

You will prepare service charge schedules for secure tenancies, for submission to the appropriate Income Teams, whilst providing appropriate service charge levels for new tenancies as required.  You will also collate financial performance information relating to service costs in order to ensure that full recovery is made in the service charge, whilst preparing applications for the Income Teams for fair rent and service charge increases.

In consultation with colleagues, you will calculate revised service charges for existing assured tenancies and implement such after confirmation by the Senior Management Accountant, preparing documentation for colleagues attending tenant consultation or rent assessment committee hearings.

To be successful, it is essential you have experience of operating within a service sector finance environment and analysing financial performance information. You should have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with both financial and non-financial colleagues.  You will also have a good level of general education at GCSE or equivalent, with the willingness to work towards a qualification with a recognised accounting body.

All posts are recruited to the recruitment salary and movement to the confirmed salary is based on successful completion of a 6 month probation.  As well as a competitive salary and a generous annual leave entitlement, we offer a range of benefits for a rewarding career including a health cash plan, pension scheme and personal development.
