Job Details

We’re looking for a customer-focused individual with energy, experience and a strong sense of purpose to join us as a Senior Capital Accountant

The UK has a housing problem. This affects every one of us, because housing is the foundation of the society we live in. Catalyst is part of the solution. You could be too.

One of the UK’s leading housing associations, Catalyst is here to make a purposeful difference by providing housing solutions for those who can’t afford a home without our help. We offer a wide range of homes, for rent, part ownership or purchase. By doing so, we build more than homes – we build communities.

We're at a particularly exciting point in our story, having recently merged with another large housing association, Aldwyck. The merger makes us stronger and more able to deliver our social purpose - in every part of our organisation. We’re always seeking to do better. If you are too, read on.

You will be responsible for leading a high performing team that provides the organisation with specific accounting support to facilitate fantastic financial management, and delivers accurate & timely management information and insightful commentary. You will work closely with partners in asset management to assist in strategic planning and ensure that long term improvement and maintenance works programmes are accurately reflected in financial budgets and forecasts. You will take the lead in producing annual statutory accounting, including internal and external audit liaison for Catalyst capital activities, the statutory annual financial statements for Special Purpose Development Companies, and ad hoc capital financial information.

You are passionate about delivering excellent customer experience every time, by being easy, reliable and empathetic in the way you deal with customers and colleagues. You will be a stickler for making sure information is fit for purpose and easy to access, you will lead the team in producing a high quality capital accounting service to the business, enabling budget holders and directors to make decisions on the future use and value enhancement of our primary business assets. You will be a qualified accountant with experience in positions that reflect the technical requirements and profile of this role, with an obvious expert understanding of relevant accounting requirements.

You will have a proven record of showing initiative and working effectively as part of a team with low supervision in a changing environment and changing customer needs. Advanced Excel spreadsheet skills with attention to detail and accuracy.  Experience of Sun, Q &A and Vision Excel would be a bonus – but you must be technically savvy enough to adapt and fully exploit our systems to drive efficiencies.

We’re a Sunday Times top 100 Best Company to Work for. We invest a lot of time and resources in our people because we know it’s our people who will drive our success. If you’d like to join us, and help make a real difference, please get in touch.

The role is subject to a basic check.

Closing date: 28th May 2019. Interviews will take place on Thursday 30th May 2019.

Please note completed pre-employment forms must be included in order for your application to be processed.
