Property development that changes lives

The housing crisis is one of the greatest challenges facing the capital – and the Mayor of London has ambitious plans to tackle it. The Greater London Authority (GLA) is working hard to make genuinely affordable homes a reality for more people. The scale of the challenge is huge, but so is our commitment. Together we can build a London for everyone.

The opportunity

This is an opportunity to deliver a portfolio of major high-profile developments -- with a difference. We’ll look to you to tie property development and other regeneration to positive economic outcomes through projects that create new jobs homes for Londoners. Specifically, your expertise will help the teams to work closely with public sector landowners to release land and bring forward residential developments. You will lead the GLA's work on land assembly and CPO activity. This will include providing high-quality professional advice on development viability, land assembly strategy, land acquisition and disposal, and procurement and management of delivery partners.

The person

A professionally qualified and experienced surveyor (or similar), you’ll have significant regeneration or development experience, including the management of large projects from initiation to delivery.  Your extensive technical understanding will span procurement, design, project finance, planning and associated legal agreements, while your commercial know-how will include financial analysis and deal structuring. A good understanding of compulsory purchase orders is key.  You’ll be a strategic thinker, a relationship-builder and a powerful influencer. As this is a senior-level role, the ability to manage staff in a performance-oriented culture is key.
