Creating new opportunities for affordable homes
The housing crisis is one of the greatest challenges facing the capital – and the Mayor of London has ambitious plans to tackle it. The Greater London Authority (GLA) is working hard to make genuinely affordable homes a reality for more people. The scale of the challenge is huge, but so is our commitment. Together we can build a London for everyone.
The opportunity
Working within a defined area of London (North East, North West or South), you will foster close working relationships with local London boroughs at Director and Portfolio Holder level with a view to increasing the number of genuinely affordable homes. That means developing an understanding of neighbourhood regeneration and development opportunities, then promoting and brokering new initiatives, projects and programmes with major external partners such as government agencies, house builders, funding bodies and financial institutions. Expect to lead negotiations for complex commercial agreements, including development and funding agreements.
The person
Your goal is to ensure the effective use and management of public funds and land assets, so a background in regeneration, development or the investment sector would be helpful, as would a relevant professional qualification. We value diversity of thought and experience, and encourage applications from those who can offer a new opinion or perspective. Experience of managing large investment programmes and carrying out detailed project management is essential. You will also need effective relationship management and negotiating skills. As this is a senior-level role, the ability to manage a small team of staff in a performance-oriented culture is key.
