Hackney Council is looking for someone who understands the issues facing social housing to lead our voids team. You will work to minimise the number of empty properties and maximise our rental income. This is an important role, helping us to provide housing for people who need it.

As Voids Manager you will be responsible for the strategic and operational management of the service. You will put systems in place to manage lettings in a way that minimises void losses and leads to a high-level of customer satisfaction.

We need someone with comprehensive voids / housing management experience. You will be managing a team of eight to provide a high quality, customer focussed service. You will need to show us you can develop teams, prioritise the needs of our diverse communities and work collaboratively with key stakeholders including Housing Needs and Building Maintenance.

Day to day you will help design and implement new processes to help us manage voids.  You will help integrate this work into our housing management IT systems, bringing a strategic approach to the development of the service. You will manage the services finances, contributing to our budget setting process and monthly reviews.

You should bring creative ideas for the long term use of empty homes and non-residential properties like garages.  You must be able to map out sustainable solutions for voids that are hard to let and expensive to repair.

We need someone with up to date knowledge of housing legislation and policy. Someone who really understands best practice relating to the management of void homes and garages, who is keen to innovate and drive through change. You should have a relevant degree, Chartered Institute of Housing qualification or similar.
