Trafford Housing Trust recently announced a proposal to join the L&Q Group, one of the largest housing providers in the country.  THT and L&Q have worked together successfully for two years in a JV that is investing £160M to deliver over 2,000 homes across the North West.  This was a real step change for THT and we are delivering a wide range of homes and tenures across sites large and small. 

We aspire to provide 50% market and 50% affordable homes, reinvesting profits in our social purpose and improving lives across our communities.  There are plans to increase THT’s delivery to 20,000 homes over the next 10 years and we need a dedicated and growing team to achieve this.  We are looking for enthusiastic and passionate people to join our New Business (pre-contract) team.  We are looking for a graduate to strengthen the team, which comprises planning, development and commercial experience

This is a fantastic opportunity to join an already successful team at an exciting stage of our evolution. 

Reporting to the Senior Manager New Business, the main duties for this role are as follows:

·         Research local sales values and rents to feed into financial development appraisals

·         Identify local housing need, demand and supply through research and soft-market testing

·         Conducting on-site assessments to evaluate site potential.

·         Assisting in the due diligence process to evaluate new sites

·         Research local planning policy and economic drivers

·         Engaging with communities during community consultation

·         Assisting in the acquisition of land and assets

·         Building relationships with internal and external stakeholders

·         Providing support to the wider team through project management; audit and compliance

The  successful candidate will ideally have a related vocational degree, for example Planning, Development, or Construction. Alternatively a subject based degree in Geography or Economics would be preferred for this role.  The successful candidate will also have a strong interest and passion for planning and development and understands placemaking, neighbourhood planning and policy. They will have strong analytical skills and an interest in the financial and legal aspects of development. The position would suit someone who is aspiring to become a planning and development professional. A high level of proficiency in Microsoft Word and excel is essential for this role. In addition, a driving licence and access to a car required.

THT run a graduate programme, of which the successful candidate(s) will be enrolled onto. This provides a structured training and skill development programme which runs over 2-3 years. Progress through the 2-3 year programme will be marked with incremental salary increases. All graduates are fully supported by their direct Senior Line Manager, Graduate Programme Lead and an internal mentor.

Once completed the graduate will then be a fully qualified Project Manager with the ability to independently manage projects within our very exciting programme.
