Permanent – Flexible Working (4-5 Days per Week)

£33,759 to £34,986 per annum (SO2)

Hackney is one of the UK’s highest performing local authorities, serving one of London’s best places to live and work.  We have achieved a huge amount: our services, our schools, our public spaces are all amongst the very best.  We have changed the reputation, not just of the Council, but of Hackney itself. Bringing jobs and investment into the borough, securing the legacy from 2012 Games, and making this a place of which we can all be proud.

The TMO Services Team within Hackney Council is looking for an experienced professional to work with our TMOs to deliver excellent services to their residents. Housing is a top priority in Hackney, this is a fantastic opportunity to develop your management skills as part of a small team that works closely with TMO staff and board members as well as with other departments and teams within Council.

As one of our TMO Liaison Officers, you will provide strategic and operational support to existing TMOs in Hackney, and develop and maintain an effective client monitoring system. You will advise on and monitor TMO governance, financial performance and service delivery. You will also support and monitor the progress of residents’ groups that wish to become TMOs and provide expert advice to TMOs who wish to take on additional responsibilities.

We need someone with excellent written and verbal communication skills who can develop effective professional working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders at all levels.  You will need to be able to analyse and evaluate data, understand complex legislation and give clear guidance and advice. You will also be able to resolve complex issues or complaints.

This role would suit someone with a background in housing, governance, compliance or finance. The successful candidate should have a good understanding of, and a commitment to, social housing and resident involvement.  You should also be familiar with a range of IT packages.

To thrive here you will need a good eye for detail and a flexible approach. The nature of the work means you will spend a lot of your time away from your desk working with TMOs and other departments and teams within Council. You will also be required to work some evenings and weekends. You should be passionate about providing good quality housing services and be keen to bring new ideas to improve our internal systems and processes.

If you want to work in a place where you can represent our values so we achieve the best for our residents, please click on the apply button below.

When applying, there will be a number of questions relating to the post on the application form.

It is essential that you complete the application questions, responding to each using examples of your skills, knowledge and experience.

You are not required to submit a supporting statement.

Closing date for applications: 23 June 2019 (22:59)

Interviews: Week Commencing 3 July 2019

Hackney Council works to eradicate discrimination on the basis of race, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, pregnancy and maternity, age and marital status. We also recognise that people can be disadvantaged by their social and economic circumstances, so we will also work to eliminate discrimination and disadvantage caused by social class. We also welcome those interested in flexible working. We particularly welcome applications from disabled people, as this group is currently under represented in our workforce.

We are also working towards our vision, which is to be a place for everyone; where residents and staff can be proud; a place that celebrates diversity and where everyone can feel valued, included and involved. In order to achieve this, we look for people who are: Proud; Ambitious; Pioneering; Open; Proactive; Inclusive.
