Mechanical & Electrical Surveyor

We are looking for someone with an extensive knowledge and experience of Mechanical, Electrical & Building Services including quality inspections and management of external contractors in the delivery of projects and planned cyclical maintenance programmes.  If you have relevant technical qualifications in Mechanical and Electrical Installations or are able to demonstrate equivalent experience we would like to hear from you.

The successful applicant will be required to implement and manage contracts of varying size and scope covering both domestic and commercial buildings.  This is a demanding, yet varied and rewarding role in a small but dedicated team whose duties include maintenance and improvement works carried out in all Council owned properties.

The post demands a commitment to the delivery of a high quality service to our customers.  A full current UK driving licence is essential as travelling within the district is necessary.  An essential car users allowance will be available to the successful candidate.

Stock Condition Surveyor

We are seeking a Stock Condition Surveyor to collect internal and external data from our tenants homes for a period of one year..

The Ideal candidate will have a good knowledge of the Housing Health and Safety Rating Scheme and Decent Homes, hold a construction related qualification or have equivalent experience, and be comfortable with entering data on handheld devices.

The post will require a high level of understanding Planned maintenance and Component life cycles, using professional judgement to assess current condition, estimating the age and remaining life of property components.

The ability to quality control your own work and benchmark to others is a key requirement to ensure a balanced approach which delivers quality data into Northgates S.A.M. database. The data collected will be on tablets or large mobiles that will require basic knowledge of IT systems and use.

Personal interaction with the public will be part of the role on a daily basis at various locations throughout our district. Being a large rural area, you will need to hold a valid driving licence and have access to a car for which a petrol allowance is available.

Based at our Newport Depot, we will offer training and development to the successful candidate and we will give you all the support you need. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in property maintenance and forward planning. The length of contract will be one year from commencement.
