Senior Buyer – New Build Residential Developments 

Worcester 

£49,913 per annum (rising to £52,540 after 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance) – Company car or car allowance included

35 hours per week

The Senior Buyer will join the in house Construction team within the wider Development function.   The team manages and constructs homes procured on a traditional Joint Contracts Tribunal (JCT) contracts. Reporting into the Head of Commercial this is a great opportunity for an experienced Buyer to step into a senior position.   You will take responsibility for procuring materials for large housing developments and buying all materials to meet the programme and project targets and objectives.

 

The role of Senior Buyer will include:

  • Monitoring supplier performance and hold regular meetings with main suppliers and resolving supplier disputes
  • Ensuring labour and material sub-contractors are procured within the agreed programme and to within budgetary levels
  • Managing material take offs to ensure minimal waste, ensuring that waste management targets for construction are met
  • Developing and managing system to ensure sites are provided with the necessary materials to ensure construction activities remain on programme, ensuring accurate take offs and measures are applied accordingly
  • Ensuring materials are delivered to sites in line with site programmes and specification
  • Contributing to the development, implementation of the Group’s procurement strategy

 

Skills and experiences:

  • The successful individual will come from a large commercial house builder or main contractor with a proven track record of procuring materials for new build developments and development projects
  • Strong knowledge of the materials needed in residential construction
  • Significant experience in effective financial management of contracts and services
  • Proven experience of drafting and negotiating contract terms
  • Good working knowledge of relevant regulations, legislation and current practice
  • Experience of managing projects with strong commercial management skills
  • This role will involve driving on company business (in order to drive a company vehicle, drivers must hold a full valid UK driving licence)
