The Role

 

Alliance Homes are looking for a capable and experienced Investment Accountant to lead on all tax, VAT and CIS matters for the Company. You will provide high-quality, accurate and timely finance service to support VAT and Tax advice on all investment matters to internal and external stakeholders, providing an excellent customer service and ensuring the needs of the users and wider Group are met.

 

The successful candidate will be an excellent partner, developing strong internal and external relationships with all key stakeholders. The key responsibilities of an Investment Accountant include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Contributing to Finance strategy and policy through the provision of specialist advice on Tax, VAT and CIS, that will maximise efficiency; and operating as an internal consultant advising on strategic level projects and operational teams
  • Building strong and lasting relationships to understand, predict and respond to changing needs of the organisation regarding Tax, VAT and CIS
  • Engaging with stakeholders within the organisation and the super users to ensure there is constant communication to understand business requirements, and update users of changes
  • Considering the impact on the organisation from changes to HMRC requirements
  • Overseeing the provision of management information through the delivery of both ad hoc and standard reports
  • Ensuring adequate controls are maintained to ensure accurate tax, VAT and CIS calculations
  • Providing training and guidance within the Finance Department to engage and motivate and draw individuals from across the Group to be involved

The Person

 

The key skills and qualities of an Investment Accountant:

  • Hold a current recognised CCAB qualification e.g. ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA, ICA
  • Demonstrable experience of dealing with complex tax matters and their successful resolution; and experience of supporting and establishing best practice for tax, VAT and CIS
  • Ability to document and explain complex problems in a clear and succinct way to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ensures focus on outcomes and customer experience over roles and responsibilities, acting as a role model to inspire others, having genuine empathy with the purpose of care providers
  • A highly personal individual: strong verbal, written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, as well as good influencing and negotiating skills
  • High level IT literacy and keen adopter of digital technology and flexible working methods
  • Able to work confidently and collaboratively with colleagues with enthusiasm; make, and be accountable for, sound, evidence-based judgements; and identify solutions to risks

 

The right candidate will also be flexible to work outside normal hours when required. Above all, you will need a mix strong business skills, integrity and personal values.
