 Permanent

£33,799 - £35,934 per annum

(plus essential car user allowance for postholder using own vehicle for business use)

37 hours per week

What it's like to work here: With its diverse mix of coast, countryside, seaside resorts, market towns, villages and moorland, Teignbridge is a great place to work and live.

For this role: You will be mostly office based with some business travel across the district to meetings and site visits including within the Dartmoor National Park. The post holder will be expected to travel throughout the district for which an essential user car allowance will be payable.

What you'll be doing: Do you want to help us build on our success? We are embarking on exciting times at Teignbridge. Not only are we about to start an affordable housing building programme of our own but also work with our planning partners and communities to provide a wide range of affordable housing products ranging from extra care housing to wheelchair adapted homes, traveller sites and custom build affordable homes.

If you want to be part of a small, busy team carrying out this challenging but rewarding work then this could be the opportunity you have been looking for. In return we are looking for good communication and negotiation skills to work across many departments and with a variety of different communities.

Who we're looking for: The successful applicant will assist in enabling the delivery of affordable housing across the District, including parts of the Dartmoor National Park to meet identified needs. This work will include negotiation with developers, land owners and Registered Providers as well as securing grant funding and working in partnership with a wide range of stakeholders. You will also have the opportunity to influence the review of the Councils Local Plan in respect of affordable home delivery.

The post holder will be responsible for actively promoting and maximising the development of affordable housing. Applicants will need a working knowledge of housing and planning policy and an understanding of delivery mechanisms. Development viability experience would be an advantage.

We value our staff and offer an excellent working environment, employee rewards and benefits include;

  • Local Government Pension Scheme
  • Generous annual leave
  • Family friendly leave, pay and working arrangements
  • Childcare Vouchers
  • Discounted gym membership at Teignbridge District Council Leisure Centres
  • Cycle Scheme
  • Career development through professional learning and development

As an Investors in People Gold Award holder and a Disability Confident Employer, we value diversity and celebrate individuality across our workforce. We are committed to equal opportunities in employment and service provision and are only interested in your ability to do the job.
