As one of London’s largest Housing Associations Peabody’s Board has great aspirations for growth.  The Development Team has been tasked with securing and delivering 2,500-3,000 new starts each year, as well as committing to the GLA that we will achieve 6,000 affordable starts by March 2021, with potential to deliver more through new funding streams.

Our Development Strategy outlines how we can achieve this whilst maintaining our design ethos. With a focus on joint venture working with key partners and contractors we are building longer term strategic partnerships to secure strategic land opportunities to building a significant pipeline of longer term opportunities.

The New Business team focus is to deliver on this strategy by securing and delivering on a variety of new development opportunities.  This will include joint venture/partnership arrangements, S106 schemes, exploring the intensification of existing Peabody Estates, new care & support opportunities and land-led opportunities.

To achieve this growth the New Business Team is now recruiting for ambitious, driven individuals to enhance an established existing team.

We are appointing  a Development Managers to work within our regionally-focussed South, West and Essex New Business.  Working directly alongside the Senior Development Manager, you will be focussed on the delivery of Holloway Prison, our 1,100 unit regeneration in Islington through the planning and design programme.

Skills/Experience required 

  • Demonstrable evidence of project management skills alongside a track record progressing schemes from inception through to planning resolution.

  • Self-motivated individual with a keen commitment to ongoing personal and professional development

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience in working in a New Business environment focused on growth

  • Good understanding of the acquisition and pre-development design process

  • Experience of securing and delivering Joint Venture schemes is not essential but is desirable

  • Experience of working on regeneration schemes is desirable but not essential

  • Commercially aware and knowledge of private sector development

  • Ability in, and experience of the following:

    -Identifying and securing land, acquisition and development opportunities
    -Bidding for development opportunities in formal and informal processes 
    -Risk management
    -Financial appraisals

  • Good connections within the agency, affordable housing, local government, construction, and residential development sectors

  • An understanding of the Housing Association sector would be preferred but not essential

  • Professional qualification such as RICS, MCIOB, APM are desirable but not essential
