The role

We have an opportunity for a Financial Accountant to join our team in Camden. This role is to produce good quality financial statements, and contribute to a good control environment through schedules, reconciliations and the investigation of unusual balances. 

This role would be suitable for candidates with the right skills and experience who also shares One Housing’s values and will make an active contribution to achieving our vision.

 

Key accountabilities

The post holder will:

  • Produce monthly statutory accounts and the yearend financial statements
  • Contribute to a good control environment through schedules, reconciliations and the investigation of unusual balances.
  • Provide support to the Group Financial Controller and deputise for him/her where necessary
  • Ensure intercompany accounts remain in balance and perform monthly reconciliations.
  • Analysis of balance sheet items and work with other areas of the finance department to ensure regular balance sheet cleansing.
  • Support other areas of financial accounting and the wider finance team to ensure accuracy of the accounts and a good control environment.
  • Reconcile payroll accounts
  • Administer season ticket loans
  • Work closely with the Group Financial Controller to ensure smooth operation of month end tasks.
  • Prepare lead schedules for One Housing and all its subsidiaries on a monthly basis.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements for statutory accounting purposes.
  • Prepare assigned notes to the accounts for the Financial Statements
  • Prepare assigned company Financial Statements for subsidiaries of One Housing
  • Assist with the preparation and collation of audit evidence and working papers within agreed time scales for external audit. Resolve audit queries promptly
  • Assist with governance requirements related to the Financial Statements
  • Ensure that the One Housing Standing Orders and Financial Regulations and various policies are adhered to at all times

Skills & experience

  • Fully qualified accountant
  • Good understanding of accounting processes and procedures
  • Experience of producing/contributing to financial accounts.
  • A sound working knowledge of PC applications i.e. Excel including pivot tables, vlookups and Word
  • Use of Sun Systems & Q&A
  • Good level of IT skills and literacy
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to produce timely and accurate information
  • Ability to analyse financial information
  • Ability to work as part of a team, learn new skills and adapt to change
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic with a desire to build a long standing career within this sector
